What was the contribution of Polish Jews to the development of Polish, Jewish and world civilization? To what extent did Jewish-Polish roots influence their extraordinary biographies, life choices and inspirations? What barriers did they have to overcome?  Thirteen authors ask questions about the relations between Polish and Jewish culture, taking a closer look at the lives of eminent Jewish men and women, whose achievements have become the heritage of successive generations and of us today. The universal value of their achievements is presented in the context of their fields of activity - literature, religion, humanities, politics, sciences, economics, music, film, theater, and art.  The book was written to accompany the 'Legacy' exhibition at the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews.
